Tirana, February 12 2011 NOA – Dar es Salaam — Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) has landed an invitation to field boxers in a special amateur championship opening on March 31 to April 4 in Albania.

Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) secretary general, Makore Mashaga said yesterday that they have received an invitation from Albania Boxing Federation (ABF), requesting them to field boxers in all various categories in the event.

Mashaga said his ABF counterpart, Edmond Kabash believes the Albania championship would help the Tanzania boxers to adequately fine-tune ahead of this year's major international competitions. The forthcoming All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique are among the international competitions Tanzania has confirmed to compete in this year.

Mashaga said the national amateur boxing team head trainer would soon select his team for the Albania competition. He said the coach would use the national amateur championship set for later this month to select the pugilists he needs for the event.

He appealed to institutions, individuals and well-wishers for financial support, saying they can not manage to raise the money for the team's adequate preparations and participation in the Albania championship on their own.
