Tirana March 8, 2011 NOA - On occasion of March 7, the Teacher’s Day, Prime Minister Sali Berisha hosted a special meeting of teachers from all over Albania at the venues of the Palace of Brigades. PM Berisha expressed gratitude for the hard work that the teachers do every day to educate the young generation and in this way making a worthy contribution for the education of the society. During his speech delivered on this occasion, PM Berisha told the teachers that by their mission they open the door for the young people into the house of knowledge; the most wonderful edifice mankind has ever built. Thus, all youth has the opportunity to make their dream come true; it’s a worthy dream for themselves, the family and society as well. PM Berisha emphasized that education and reform of the sector remains the top priority of this government. “Over a short period of time we managed to double the salaries for the teachers, to build and reconstruct more than 1200 schools, to extend the Internet connection in every school of the country”, said PM Berisha. “Thanks to your work and efforts we managed that this current year 91% of all pupils finishing the 9-grade school attend the secondary school and this consists one of the greatest indicators”, said further on the prime minister. Likewise, the prime minister highlighted that fact that this current year 70% of all those finishing high school attend the university. And this is one of the highest indicators in the world which makes the Albanian nation justly proud of this achievement.
